Shannon Sharpe was accused of sexual assault and sexual battery in a complaint filed in Nevada over the weekend. The lawsuit seeks a reported $50 million in damages.

Per a report from NBC Sports, the accuser, who is proceeding in the lawsuit under the pseudonym of Jane Doe, is represented by Tony Buzbee and Micah Nash. Buzbee, notably, has been in and out of headlines as of late in connection with disputed allegations against Diddy and Jay-Z.

In the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she was in a “rocky consensual relationship” with Sharpe for almost two years after first meeting at a gym in the Los Angeles area. They also allege Sharpe recorded their sexual activities, sometimes sharing the videos without her knowledge or permission.

Last year, Sharpe made headlines when he mistakenly broadcast himself having sex with a woman on his Instagram Live. However, the complaint claims that was a different woman and not the plaintiff.

As of this writing, Sharpe hasn't shared a public statement on the suit. Per a separate report from TMZ, the Jane Doe’s allegations of rape center on the period between late 2024 and early 2025.

“Late last night, The Buzbee Law Firm filed a civil lawsuit on behalf of a brave young woman who alleges she was brutally sexually assaulted by former NFL player Shannon Sharpe on multiple occasions, the last incident occurring in January 2025,” Buzbee wrote in a statement shared to Facebook on Monday. “The lawsuit filed under the pseudonym “Jane Doe” lays out a pattern of intimidation, manipulation, and abuse, including allegations that Sharpe repeatedly threatened to choke and slap Jane Doe. The case seeks $50 million in damages.”

Buzbee continued, “The case is on file in Department 11, Clark County State Court, Nevada, the county where the alleged conduct occurred. The egregious and concerning facts of the case are set forth in detail in the public filing. I’m extremely proud to represent Jane Doe. It takes a great deal of courage to stand up against those with power, fame and money.I look forward to pressing this case in court.”

Complex has reached out to reps for Sharpe for comment. This story may be updated.

Last week, it was reported that Sharpe could be looking at a potential $100 million podcast deal after seeing success with Club Shay Shay and Nightcap. Per Front Office Sports sources, Sharpe has been met with “multiple offers” for his larger network of original shows. No official announcement, however, has been made.

As for Buzbee, he was accused of defamation earlier this year by Jay-Z's legal team. In December, Jay argued that the Texas-based lawyer’s involvement with a since-dismissed civil case amounted to “a blackmail attempt.”
