More than 100 NFL players will be fined for a massive Super Bowl ticket scandal.

The league reportedly plans to fine more than 100 players and nearly two dozen employees who violated the NFL’s Ticket Resale policy in regards to Super Bowl 59 tickets, according to CNBC.

An internal memo from the league’s chief compliance officer, Sabrina Perel, revealed that an investigation found that players and personnel were selling tickets to resale “bundlers” to make a profit.

Because of this, players are set to be fined 1.5-times the face value of the sold tickets. Employees will be fined twice the face value. Additionally, any non-player personnel who violated the policy on’t be able to purchase future NFL tickets.

“No one should profit personally from their NFL affiliation at the expense of our fans,” wrote Perel in the memo.

In the memo, Perel detailed the policy surrounding selling game tickets.

“This long-standing League Policy, which is specifically incorporated into the Collective Bargaining Agreement, prohibits League or Club employees, including players, from selling NFL game tickets acquired from their employer for more than the ticket’s face value or for an amount greater than the employee originally paid for the ticket, whichever is less,” she wrote.

To prevent this from happening in the future, the NFL is taking steps for more compliance training ahead of Super Bowl 60, as well as increasing the penalties. “All clubs must ensure their personnel understand and comply with this policy,” wrote Perel. “Additional details regarding the enhanced compliance measures will be provided in early fall.”
