High School Basketball Star Noah Scurry Killed Outside Home
He was shot and killed on his way to school.
A star high school basketball player in Pennsylvania was gunned down earlier this week right in front of his home.
The Philadelphia Police Department announced that 17-year-old Noah Scurry was fatally shot around 7:15 a.m. on Jan. 14 while he was on his way to Samuel Fels High School.
“No arrests have been made,” said PPD, also revealing that a weapon hasn’t been recovered yet.
Fox 29 reports that a rap video posted the day before Scurry was killed portrays what law enforcement believes to be him in a “joker” mask, holding guns. Since the shooting appeared to be targeted, this video and its content could be connected.
Scurry was a popular basketball player at his school who was considered the boys’ basketball team captain. He was being scouted to play for colleges.
In a letter that the school sent home to students, the principal revealed that Scurry scored the highest on the SAT College Placement tests out of all of the students in the school.
"This teenager that was killed was exceptional," said school district spokesperson Monique Braxton about Scurry. "As far as the school was concerned, there had not been any issues between this person who was killed and any other student. They don’t know of anything going on in the community as well."
Police reportedly believe that they have found the vehicle in the shooting. They also believe that there were at least two shooters who hopped out of the car — and a third person who could have been driving.
Scurry was reportedly a victim of a previous shooting back in May 2023 where another man in his 60s was killed.
A GoFundMe for Scurry's funeral expenses was created, which you can donate to here.
