The NBA has announced that both Amen Thompson of the Houston Rockets and Terry Rozier have been suspended for their roles in a heated on-court confrontation during a recent NBA game.

Thompson has been suspended for two games while Rozier has been suspended for one. They aren’t the only ones to be penalized though — Rockets coach Ime Udoka has been hit with a $50,000 fine for lashing out at a referee, Jalen Green of the Rockets has been fined $35,000 and Tyler Herro has also been fined $25,000. Fred VanVleet has also been given a fine for a separate incident that happened right before the situation that led to all of the above fines and suspensions.

The final minute of the Rockets and Heat game on Sunday (Dec. 29) was pure chaos when Thompson and Herro exchanged words, leading to Thompson throwing Herro down on the ground. Rozier jumped into the confrontation nearly immediately, followed by players from both teams joining in to push, shove, and yell at each other.

After the dust settled six people were ejected: Herro, Rozier, Thompson, Green, Udoka, and Rockets assistant Ben Sullivan.

Following the game, Udoka spoke about the altercation. “I didn't see a lot, but I rewatched it,” he said. “They were in each other's faces, bumping chests a little bit. One guy is stronger than the other.”

Herro also spoke about the situation, but he had a cheekier take. “Guess that’s what happens when someone’s scoring, throwing dimes, doing the whole thing,” he said. “I’d get mad, too. “

"I think they lost control of their feelings when the game started to turn a little bit in our direction," Herro added. "And then obviously the ejection of VanVleet, you heard some words from their sideline towards the refs. They were definitely frustrated."

Herro also suffered a bruised hip during the fall, but he is expected to play tomorrow against the Pelicans on New Year’s Day.
