Green Dress TikToker Calls Viral Video About Wearing Heels in the Club a 'Little Jokey-Joke,' Didn't Intend for It to Blow Up

TikToker Rae Christine provided some context for the original video and assured her viewers that she was okay despite the relentless comments.

TikToker Rae Christine has learned a valuable lesson on how not to go viral.

Last week, the content creator and sports PR specialist posted a TikTok of herself heading to Drai's After Hours in Las Vegas, but questioned whether Gen Zers still wear heels to parties.

"I don’t know what’s happening to club culture but the girlies are not wearing heels in the clubs anymore," Christine said in the video, adding that she's 34 years old but doesn't think she looks like it. "Do we need to come out of retirement and teach the girls how to wear heels, or like what heels you need to shop for when going out to the club?"

"Part of the thrill of going to the club is dancing on the couch in your heels," she added.

The TikTok has been viewed nearly 17 million times and is coming up on 1 million likes. It struck a nerve with viewers, with some clowning Christine's green tube dress with heels that looked like they could've been from a '90s Monica music video. But on Sunday, Christine posted a follow-up video (seen above), where she explained that the original TikTok began as a joke before reaching the masses.

"Oh my goodness, you guys, I had no idea this video was going to blow up like this at all," she began, her white heels and dress hilariously placed behind her. "Clearly, I didn't think this was gonna go as far as it has."

Adding that she works in marketing and public relations, Christine said that she was "genuinely joking" and has "dry humor" that doesn't "come across very clearly or as intended all of the time."

"I was joking about looking my age. Clearly, I know I look whatever age you all think that I look," she expressed. "It is up for debate in the comments. But I am aware that I don't look like somebody who is young 20-something, that she be in the club."

Christine said that she doesn't go to clubs anymore but was confused about "the shift in culture" regarding heels. "Club attire was business casual. We took the business of clubbing very seriously," she said about millennial club fashion. "Honestly, I was just having a little jokey-joke with my friend and decided to pull my phone out and recorded it, and I didn't really think much of it."

Christine also expressed that she didn't mean for her delivery to be judgmental, that she's handled harsh responses well, and that she even plans to do a reaction video to funnier ones.

Elsewhere in the TikTok, Christine said that before the first video, she and her friends went to the club and got breakfast with Kevin Hart's tour manager. Having pulled an all-nighter, she posted the video at 7:30 A.M.

"Half of my eyelashes [were] hanging off. I know I did not look good," she said.

Christine ended by thanking those who've extended their support and encouraged everyone to wear "whatever they want" in the club.
