Pope Francis 1 was recently announced as Pope Benedict XVI's replacement. Many people wonder if he is conservative when it comes to art. Well, apparently he has a history of aggressive behavior towards works he doesn't like.
Pope Francis I once denounced an exhibition in Buenos Aires by an Argentinian artist namedLeón Ferrari, claiming it was blasphemous. The works depicted Jesus in a blender and saints in a frying pan. Francis demanded that the exhibition shut down. Three different exhibitions, including the one with Ferrari's work, were attacked by conservative protesters and Catholic church authorities who managed to end two of the shows.
