Rihanna as Gunna

When: 2021

Whether Gunna’s Dior and Rick Owens ensemble from New York Fashion Week in 2021 was good or not can be debated. But when Rihanna decides to dress up like you for Halloween, your fit reaches hall of fame status. RiRi perfectly mimicked Gunna’s infamous outfit for her Halloween costume, down to the diamond chains around her neck. This one is legendary.

LeBron James as Pennywise

When: 2017

The fact that this is LeBron James still makes us laugh. LeBron must really love Halloween because why the hell did he go this hard in 2017 with his Pennywise costume? We aren’t just talking about the masks you can get at your local Spirit Halloween store. One of the greatest basketball players to ever live looked like he sat down in the makeup chair on a movie set. To make things even more memorable, we have this incredible video of him dancing to “Bitches Ain’t Shit” at a Halloween party. Just absolute ridiculousness.

The Carters as the Proud Family

When: 2022

Did you know that Beyoncé’s sister Solange and Destiny’s Child sang the theme song for the Proud Family? Beyoncé was clearly feeling nostalgic in 2022 when she, Jay-Z, Blue Ivy, Sir, and Rumi decided to dress up like the lovable family from the classic Disney cartoon. Beyoncé even performed double duty dressing up as Suga Mama and Trudy Proud. This is definitely one of the best family costumes in recent memory.

Cardi B as Marge Simpson

When: 2022

Cardi B certainly isn’t the first person to ever paint themselves yellow and put on a tall blue wig, but what took her Marge Simpson costume over the top were all of the photos. To celebrate the holiday back in 2022, she posted a collection of photos on her Instagram dressed in the costume. The backdrops were edited to look like the iconic Simpsons living room and Homer’s favorite bar Moe’s. We wonder if Cardi marathons all of the Treehouse of Horror episodes during spooky season. She’s clearly a big fan for committing to the character this much.

Lil Uzi Vert as Frankenstein

When: 2019

You can’t ever go wrong with the classics. Lil Uzi Vert proved it when they decided to dress up as Frankenstein back in 2019. They didn’t just toss on a black suit to go along with the green face paint and some facial prosthetics. As any fashion icon would, they gave the costume a stylish twist by wearing a Prada sweater featuring the monster from the brand’s Fall/Winter 2019 collection and a pair of Halloween-themed Nike SB Dunk Lows. If you wanna re-create this one, the exact sweater is hard to come by, but Grailed has you covered with plenty of other pieces from the collection. Grab the kicks from StockX, but just expect to shell out a decent chunk of change for any of this stuff.

Drake as His Dad

When: 2019

Like father, like son. Drake decided to dress up like his father Dennis Graham in 2019. The white linen. The bushy mustache. The crochet cap. The resemblance is uncanny. And this costume probably wasn’t too hard to pull together. Simplicity at its finest.

Megan Thee Stallion as Pinhead from 'Hellraiser'

When: 2021

It’s no surprise that Megan Thee Stallion takes Halloween seriously. She’s said in various interviews that she wants to write her own horror movie one day. One of her best costumes to date was her take on Pinhead from the iconic horror movie Hellraiser. She’s also used the holiday to channel her love for anime by dressing like Rabbit Hero from My Hero Academia.

Missy Elliott as Herself

When: 2019

When you have a legendary career full of iconic looks that span multiple decades, you are allowed to dress up as yourself without it being a cop out. Most of us don’t have that luxury. Missy Elliott does. In 2018, she busted out a shiny black Versace jacket that resembled her inflatable black suit from the Hype Williams-directed “Supa Dupa Fly (The Rain)” video. One year later, she re-created the cover of her album Supa Dupa Fly. When you have multiple memorable looks to re-create, you know you’ve done something right.
