Man and Woman Having Sex Die After Car Falls From Cliff in Brazil
The rocking motion from the hookup made the car drop 1,000 feet below.
A spontaneous car hookup reportedly led to the deaths of a Brazilian couple this week.
According to CNN Brasil, translated from Spanish to English, Marcone da Silva Cardoso, 26, and Adriana Machado Ribeiro, 42, died after their car dropped from a hang-gliding overlook in the city of Venda Nova do Imigrante.
Police chief Alberto Roque Peres said that the couple was having sex in the vehicle, and the rocking movement caused the car to tip over and plunge a little over 1,000 feet below. The naked body of Cardoso was recovered from the incident, while Machado was later excavated by firefighters.
Under Brazilian law, the incident falls under Article 233 of the Penal Code, which identifies the romp as an "obscene act." If the couple were arrested, they possibly would have been criminalized for "committing an obscene act in a public place, or one open or exposed to the public," which could have subjected them to a sentencing of three months to a year or a fine.
Both Peres and Machado were parents from their respective past relationships, with the latter previously being married and sharing a son and daughter with her ex-spouse. Cardoso had a 4-year-old son with his ex-girlfriend, who called the deceased "the love of my life" on social media.
Tiago Amorim witnessed the the tragic plunge and called the incident a "shocking scene."
"I saw the car’s engine very far away and the car fell almost 150 meters from the accident," they said.
