A stolen vehicle pursuit ended in a major crash in Los Angeles County on Friday afternoon.

According to the L.A. Police Department, the chase began around 2:40 p.m., and the suspect crashed into other vehicles at speeds of up to 80 miles per hour. He also barely missed hitting pedestrians as he fled from LAPD and the California Highway Patrol.

A KTLA 5 helicopter filmed the pursuit, showing the suspect swerving through lanes and sideswiping several cars while also running through a red light. He eventually crashed into two other cars and ended up in a parking lot before walking away from the stolen truck.

Police tackled the man on the sidewalk and took him into custody. Several others were hospitalized, including one of the drivers that were hit in the closing seconds of the pursuit. KTLA 5 also reported that the injuries suffered in the crash are not life-threatening.

The truck was stolen from an auto body shop when the owner left it running while dropping off vehicle parts.

"He came on the property. He actually went into the autobody shop and got in my car," the owner told ABC 7.

One of the drivers added, "This guy is unreal. I'm about to die, or something's about to blow up. The seat belt kept me in. He just ran into the side, and he kept going. I thought his brakes weren't working or something. It was just really violent."
