After Charlamagne suggested the Epstein scandal could break MAGA's grip on the GOP, Trump fired back in a Truth Social post.

Charlamagne Tha God is responding to President Donald Trump calling him a “racist sleazebag” and a “low IQ individual.”

“President Trump was better off going after Urkel tho because he is really Scraping The Bottom of The Black Barrel coming at me,” Charlamagne wrote on Instagram on Sunday (Aug. 3). “You can’t go from MLK JR, President Obama, Oprah, Beyonce, to a sleezebag name Lenard.”

In his carousel post, the Breakfast Club radio host included a clip of comedian Jessica Renee Williams on The Daily Show, joking to Jon Stewart, “Trump is trying to throw every Black person he can think of in front of this scandal to distract us [from the Epstein files] … We’re about a week away from his saying Urkel did 9/11.”

The president made his comments on Truth Social early Sunday morning, following the radio show host’s recent appearance on Lara Trump’s Fox News show, My View.

“I think there's a political coup going on right now in the Republican Party that people aren't paying attention to. I think that this Epstein thing is going to be a way for traditional conservatives to take their party back. I really do,” Charlamagne said on the program at the four-minute, 47-second mark of the video below.

He added, “I think that they know this is the issue that has gotten the base riled up—the MAGA base isn't letting this issue go. And for the first time they know they can, you know, probably take their party back and not piss off the MAGA base. I think they're gonna do that."

Trump lashed out in response, writing on Truth Social, “The very wonderful and talented Lara Trump, whose show is a big ratings success, put racist sleazebag Charlamagne ‘The God’ (Why is he allowed to use the word “GOD” when describing himself? Can anyone imagine the uproar there would be if I used that nickname?). He’s a Low IQ individual, has no idea what words are coming out of his mouth, and knows nothing about me or what I have done.”

Trump cited ending “five wars,” closing the “horrendous open border,” and supposedly creating the “greatest economy,” while attacking former President Joe Biden as “stupid and corrupt.”

“But this dope, Charlamagne, would vote for Sleepy Joe or Kamala? Remember, one year ago our Country was DEAD, now it’s the ‘HOTTEST’ Country anywhere in the World. MAGA!!!” Trump concluded.

The exchange comes amid a rift in the MAGA movement over an alleged secret list of Jeffrey Epstein's top secret clients.

Trump and his allies, including Attorney General Pam Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel, had long claimed they possessed the aforementioned list and would release it, with Bondi telling Fox News last month that it was “sitting on my desk.”

However, the Department of Justice (led by Bondi) and the FBI jointly declared no such incriminating list exists.

Trump also backed away from the claim, prompting backlash from his base, with FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino reportedly “out-of-control furious” over the reversal.

The Wall Street Journal reported in late July that Trump was told by the Justice Department that his name appears “multiple times” in the alleged files.

Per ABC News, Trump told Fox News' Rachel Campos-Duffy he would release the Epstein files during a June 2024 interview.
