Sabrina Carpenter has playfully acknowledged how her "Feather" music video, which was shot in a Brooklyn Catholic Church, potentially played a role in the indictment of New York City mayor Eric Adams.

The wild music video, which the popstar released last year, featured men killing themselves over her and dancing scantily clad at an altar at the Our Lady of Mount Carmel-Annunciation Parish in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. It ultimately led to the dismissal of Monsignor Jamie J. Gigantiello, a close ally of Adams.

A subpoena detailing the business dealings between Gigantiello and Adams' ex-chief of staff Fran Carone, sparking speculation that Carpenter's music video led to the federal probe.

Carpenter referenced the speculation about her apparent role in the controversy during a moment at her show at Madison Square Garden on Sunday, Sept. 29. "Damn, what now?" she said. "Should we talk about how I got the mayor indicted, or...?"

The New York Post asked Brooklyn diocese officials about the ongoing investigation, and the respond led to speculation the "Feathers' music video was one of the catalysts behind the federal probe. "The Diocese is fully committed to cooperating with law enforcement in all investigations, including conduct at individual parishes or involving any priest,” they said.

The music video led to a controversy that resulted in Gigantiello's title as the Diocese's vicar for development being stripped from him. Brooklyn Bishop Robert Brennan also reconsecrated the church. In a letter, Gigantiello asked for forgiveness for his apparent lack of oversight. He claimed he was told the video would be shot outside the church, not in it.

On Sept. 25, Adams was indicted on five charges, including bribery, conspiracy, fraud, and soliciting illegal foreign campaign donations. He has been accused of receiving money from the Turkish government for pushing to get the country's consulate building approved without a proper inspection from the fire department.
