ASAP Rocky Says Rihanna Has Known She Was His 'Boo' Since 2013
The pair shot the music video for the 'Long. Live. ASAP.' album cut "Fashion Killa" that year.
It seems ASAP Rocky and Rihanna’s relationship was years in the making.
In a video with Vogue for his cover story, the Harlem rapper looked back on shooting the music video for “Fashion Killa” back in 2013, which starred Rihanna.
“I just hit up the flyest chick I know,” Rocky said at the 2-minute mark in the video above. “I was like, ‘Yo RiRi, what’s good? You wanna do this video with me? I got the perfect song, it’s called 'Fashion Killa.' I’m basically talking about you—I drop your name in it.’ I ain’t even have to say all that. She was like, ‘Gang, I got you.’”
Rocky added, “She knew she was my boo back then, too. I’ma come clean.”
“Fashion Killa” appeared on Rocky’s 2013 debut album, Long. Live. ASAP. That same year, he was an opening act on Rihanna’s Diamonds World Tour. However, it wasn’t until early 2020 that the pair sparked dating rumors after walking the red carpet together at the British Fashion Awards in late 2019.
In late 2020, their relationship seemed all but confirmed when they spent the holidays in RiRi's native Barbados. It wasn’t until May 2021 that Rocky confirmed their relationship, calling Rihanna the “love of my life” in an interview with GQ.
A year later, in May 2022, the A-list couple welcomed their first son, RZA, and their second son, Riot, in August 2023.
Earlier this year, Rihanna showed her support for her longtime partner by appearing in court during his gun assault trial, in which he was found not guilty.
