A US representative from Florida is advocating for Tory Lanez.

On Monday, Rep. Anna Paulina Luna took to X to ask that California Gov. Gavin Newsom pardon Lanez after he was convicted of shooting Megan Thee Stallion in 2020.

“I am calling on Gov. Newsom @CAgovernor to review Tory Lanez’s case and issue a pardon,” she wrote. “His 10-year sentence was based on flawed evidence, political pressure, and prosecutorial bias. Justice must be blind—not driven by headlines.”

The Republican congresswoman ended the tweet with, “Free Tory Lanez” and shared a petition for his release from the Caldwell Institute for Public Safety.

Its worth noting that the tweet by the Florida congresswoman links to a conservative consulting firm founded by a Fox News analyst, which is openly using the Lanez case to criticize the integrity of California’s justice system.

Last week, the incarcerated artist made headlines after being stabbed by another inmate. An update on his Instagram revealed that he was stabbed a total of 14 times, his lungs collapsed, and he had to be placed on a breathing apparatus. At some point, he started breathing on his own again.

“Despite being in pain, he is talking normally, in good spirits, and deeply thankful to God that he is pulling through,” the statement said.

Also, last week, a non-profit representing Lanez held a press conference saying there is newly unearthed claims from a bodyguard that could prove Lanez innocence. A man named Bradley James, who claimed to have been a bodyguard for Meg's former friend, Kelsey Harris, said that she admitted to being in possession of the gun during the shooting and that she fired it three times.

In the past, many Lanez supporters claimed she was lying about being shot in the first place.

One of those supporters was Lanez' one-time rival, Drake. Recently, Drake also called for Lanez's freedom and shared the petition days after the stabbing. He wrote, “Come home soon” on his Instagram Story with a link to a Change.org petition named, "Pardon Tory Lanez: Urge Governor Newsom to Correct a Deep Injustice."

Lanez was sentenced to 10 years in prison in August 2023.
