Drake Wishes His Mom a Happy Mother's Day: 'Forever Sandra’s Rose'
Drizzy nodded to his 2018 song of the same name, which appeared on 'Scorpion.'
Drake is a mama’s boy.
On Sunday, the OVO head took to Instagram to wish his mother Sandra Graham a Happy Mother’s Day.
"It’s solely because of your relentless dedication that we are all here in this current day life setting," he captioned a series of photos of his mother.
"You kept 30 or so young men on the right path since 2007 and encouraged us to take care of each other which prompted us to form a new family that allowed us to become providers and bring joy and peace of mind back to the homes we all started at. Happy Mother’s Day from all the guys…to the kindest and most nurturing woman on earth. Forever Sandra’s Rose."
“Sandra’s Rose” is a nod to Drizzy’s 2018 song of the same name, which appeared on his Scorpion album and was co-produced by DJ Premier.
Days after Scorpion came out, Premier chatted with Complex about the making of “Sandra’s Rose,” which he co-produced with Maneesh.
“For at least the last 10 years, me and Drake always say, ‘We gotta do something, we gotta do something,’” Premier told Complex’s Shawn Setaro.
“40 hit me up and said, ‘Drake wants you to flip this sample from one of my guys. His name is Maneesh.’ He’s signed to 40 as a writer and a producer. 40 said, ‘I know you dig and do your own samples and your own programming. You’re a beast. But Drake really thinks you could flip this one.’”
Premier put his spin on it, adding drums, a bassline, percussion, and more. He sent it back to 40 at 4 a.m., and when Premier woke up, Drake had already sent it back with a snippet of a verse.
“As soon as I hit play, I heard that first, ‘N***as see the crib and ask who did I steal from,’" Preem recalled. "I was like, ‘Whoa.’”
