Diddy wants the civil lawsuit filed by producer Rodney 'Lil' Rod' Jones thrown out for an alleged extortion attempt.

According to court documents, the dismissal filing was made on Monday (August 25) in the Southern District of New York federal court, with defendants listed as Sean Combs, Love Records, Inc. and Combs Global.

According to the filing, Diddy claims that Jones’ lawsuit is “his third attempt to dress up a run of the mill commercial disagreement as a salacious RICO conspiracy.” Writing that the lawsuit contains “hyperbole and lurid theatrics,” the document adds that Jones fails to state a “single viable claim” against Combs and his aforementioned business enterprises.

Jones, who reportedly worked with Diddy from September 2022 to November 2023 on The Love Album, named Diddy in a lawsuit from February, alleging that he was was sexually harassed, drugged and threatened with violence by the mogul. Jones also mentioned that he didn't receive compensation from his work on the album, despite being nominated for Best Progressive R&B Album.

But Diddy's filing accuses Jones of trying to "promote his personal brand and profit from exposure," naming a video posted on X where he and rapper Uncle Murda allegedly laughed about the lawsuit.

Diddy now seeks to dismiss all of Jones' claims, writing that he failed to prove that his "business or property" was damaged under racketeering activities, along with evidence of sexual assault, emotional distress, and alleging that he was a victim of trafficking.

"Mr. Jones’s lawsuit is pure fiction — a shameless attempt to create media hype and extract a quick settlement," stated Diddy's lawyer, Erica Wolff. "There was no RICO conspiracy and Mr. Jones was not threatened, groomed, assaulted, or trafficked. We look forward to proving – in a court of law – that all of Mr. Jones’s claims are made-up and must be dismissed."

But Jones' attorney, Tyrone Blackburn, has called Diddy's motion a "delay tactic," per CNN.

“This is nothing more than a billing exercise by Combs’ latest set of attorneys who are clearly attempting to fill their pockets before he is indicted and they ultimately bail on him like the others did,” Blackburn told the outlet.
