Diddy Legal Issues: Woman Suing for Sex Trafficking Files Police Report in Miami Beach
Diddy previously denied the woman's allegations in a statement released last month through a lawyer.
A woman who previously accused Diddy of sex trafficking in a lawsuit has now spoken with police in Florida about the allegations, at least according to the latest from TMZ.
Monday, the Harvey Levin-led outlet cited sources as stating that the allegations from the woman in question, Adria English, are now the subject of a police report in Miami Beach. English is said to have spoken with detectives, though these conversations are reported to have not ended with a determination that an investigation into trafficking or other allegations would be set in motion at the local police level. Put another way, police didn’t think there was strong enough evidence to warrant a formal investigation on their part.
Still, TMZ adds, the report is set to be shared with federal agencies who are said to be in the process of their own investigations, though details on such matters remain scarce. Monday’s report also states that Ariel Mitchell, an attorney representing English, is also aiming to file a report in New York City. When reached for comment by Complex on Monday afternoon, Mitchell confirmed this was the plan, though she acknowledged there had thus far been logistical issues in doing so. For now, Mitchell said in a statement, English is "very excited and cautiously optimistic" following the July filing of her civil lawsuit against Diddy.
"We look forward to hopefully being able to pursue justice as quickly as possible with the support of others who are interested in standing with her against the injustice she and others have faced at the hands of Mr. Combs," Mitchell said, in part.
In a previously released statement, Diddy’s attorney, Jonathan Davis, denied the allegations against Diddy. In English’s suit, she alleged that she first worked for Diddy as a go-go dancer starting in 2004 before eventually, she further alleged, being "groomed" into a sex trafficking operation.
"No matter how many lawsuits are filed it won't change the fact that Mr. Combs has never sexually assaulted or sex trafficked anyone," Davis said in July. "We live in a world where anyone can file a lawsuit for any reason and without any proof. Fortunately, a fair and impartial judicial process exists to find the truth and Mr. Combs is confident he will prevail against these and other baseless claims in court."
Complex has also reached out to Miami Beach Police reps for additional comment. This story may be updated.
Diddy has been named in multiple lawsuits over the past year. In May, he shared a brief video statement in which he addressed the surfacing of surveillance footage showing him assaulting Cassie at a Los Angeles hotel in 2016.
"I take full responsibility for my actions in that video," Diddy said. "I’m disgusted."
