Chinese Street Performer Covering Drake, Frank Ocean Goes Viral on TikTok
Soulful internet sensation Master Wen sings in English on YouTube and TikTok.
Chinese vocalist Master Wen won the internet with his covers of Frank Ocean, Drake, Billie Eilish and more.
For 58.7K TikTok followers, Master Wen has performed soulful classics like Ocean's "Nights" and Teddy Swims' "Lose Control" often singing at a teahouse in Chengdu. Wen's captions often detail his audience, like one where he sings Bill Withers and Grover Washington Jr. classic "Just the Two of Us." "When I start to sing, the two elderly gentlemen behind me were left in captivating control for 39 seconds," Wen wrote.
The responses to Wen's performances have been highly positive, with one person joking that he's "the real reason Trump is scared of China."
Another TikTok shows Wen singing a live rendition of Bobby Caldwell's "What You Won't Do for Love" while an older couple watches him. "The elderly may not understand what I'm singing, but it doesn't matter. As long as I'm happy," he captioned the post.
When he isn't serenading the teahouse crowd, Master Wen dabbles in rap, his most recent TikTok being a cover of Justin Bieber, Daniel Caesar and Giveon collaboration "Peaches."
"I get my peaches out in Georgia, Apple Bottom from New York, orange in Florida/ Vitamin C mixed with this vitamin D now you got vitamin me," Wen raps on the crowd-pleaser.
We're looking forward to more performances by the singer, as song requests continue to pour in.
