Usher’s giving himself a rest before embarking on his global Past Present Future tour.

On Wednesday (August 14), fans were disappointed when the "U Got It Bad" vocalist announced that he would be postponing the opening date, scheduled for the same evening at Atlanta's State Farm Arena. The 45-year-old, who headlined at the Super Bowl LVIII in February, cited the need for "rest" and recovery in a statement posted to his social media channels. Also Usher's sixth tour, Past Present Future supports his latest album, Coming Home.

"For my 30-plus year career, 100% of my blood, sweat and tears has gone into putting on the best performance and creating a memorable experience for my fans," the 8-time Grammy winner wrote about the postponement of night one of three consecutive Atlanta concerts. I have every intention of doing that for this tour as well. Which is why I have to postpone tonight’s show and reschedule it for a later date to give my body a second to rest and heal."

"You’re still going to get a bit of the past, some of the present and a unique look into the future on the rescheduled date but you’ll also be getting 100% of me," he continued. "The last thing I want to ever do is disappoint you, the fans who have been eagerly waiting for this tour to start. However, I wouldn’t be the entertainer that I am if I can’t physically give you my best.’"

"My team will be sharing news of the rescheduled date soon. I can’t wait to celebrate this legacy with you."

Usher's fans may sympathize with the singer, as he's spent roughly the past three years performing nonstop. When he wasn't at Essence Festival, Roots Picnic and Dreamville Festival, the father-of-four held two Las Vegas residences.

Last month, Usher came to the aid of Missy Elliott during the Atlanta date of her Out of This World tour, while the artist was suffering from a migrane.
