Joe Budden Fires Back at Yung Miami for Criticizing His 'Pump It Up' Plaque
Budden and Miami had a tense back-and-forth on social media after he received the plaque.
Joe Budden had some words for Yung Miami, who ridiculed him on social media after he received a gold plaque for "Pump It Up."
On the latest episode of The Joe Budden Podcast, the former rapper took time to address those who think it's "keke time" after LL Cool J brought him the RIAA-certified gold plaque for his 2003 hit single. According to Budden, it's fine for people to make jokes about the moment, as he's consistently ridiculed other people but made it clear no one is going to make him think he suffered a loss.
He set his sights on Yung Miami first and claimed he hoped she would be the first person to make fun of him while also stating he likes her and respects her as a "content creator." However, she'll realize all this is a luxury.
"The thing about laughter, I think that she will soon realize is it's also a luxury. Laughter is good for the soul...laughter is also a privilege. So while I'm happy Caresha is able to laugh because she's had a stressful year, I am a little surprised she has found enough time to laugh at anything."
He added, "I want to keep this professional and on the music. If Complex were to do a list where all the female rappers ranked, Caresha, you would be last on the list. You would be drop dead last on that list. Every female out there is wiping you down right now....Caresha was the very last person I expected to do this."
Budden went on to mention Yung Miami's status with her label Quality Control and the issues behind her not being able to release new music. Earlier this month, Miami revealed her label won't release any of her new songs as they don't believe she's grown as an artist.
"Today, I hear 'Pump It Up' nowadays more than I hear you. So when you go on these social media rants and say you were nine years old when 'Pump It Up' dropped, and now you're 30, you should be cautious of that because your record label today is saying to you that they're not seeing any growth."
He then labeled Miami a "science project" that doesn't write her own lyrics and is put together by major companies. Miami was also called the "worst female rapper" by Budden and brought up her issues with JT and how she was around so much success but never found any on her own.
