Taylor Rooks Responds to Drake's “Supermax” Lyrics Referencing Their Conversation
Taylor Rooks responds to Drake referencing their conversation in his new song “Supermax."
Taylor Rooks responded to Drake speaking about her in the unreleased track "Supermax," which was previewed during the rapper's surprise Iceman Episode 1 livestream.
On Friday (July 4), Drake unleashed his Iceman Episode 1 livestream, and the 6 God premiered a slew of songs that had fans buzzing all over social media. On one song, allegedly titled "Supermax," Drake spoke about a woman named Taylor who gave him some welcoming advice during a night out.
"I was talking to Taylor over drinks, and it was getting deep / 'Not everyone can handle this pressure and, in the city, you're the national treasure,' that's what she said to me," Drake raps in the song.
Shortly after the livestream aired, Rooks posted an Instagram Story that left little room for doubt regarding who Drake was talking about with that line. Rooks shared a screenshot of the Iceman Episode 1 stream with the caption, "That's what she said to me," directly quoting the line from the song and seemingly confirming her involvement.
The lyric and Rooks' confirmation sent fans into a frenzy across social media, with many speculating on the nature of Rooks and Drake's relationship, which the sports journalist has long implied is a strong friendship. Fans even brought up tweets that Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey posted in support of Kendrick Lamar during his feud with Drake, as Dorsey was rumored to have dated Rooks at one point.
"Supermax" was one of the many highlights of Drake's cryptic livestream event, which took place in a moody, industrial-style warehouse setting heavily branded with "Iceman" visuals, fueling rumors of a full project release.
