A verdict has been reached in ASAP Rocky's assault with a semiautomatic firearm case.

Rocky was found not guilty on Tuesday. The rapper was seen diving to hug his mother and Rihanna after the verdict was announced in court.

Following the verdict, Rocky thanked jurors for "saving my life" and "making the right decision" while on his way out of the courtroom.

During closing statements, Joe Tacopina, an attorney for Rocky, again argued that ASAP Relli, the accuser in Rocky’s case, had provided jurors with “lies.” Key in the case has been the alleged weapon itself, with Rocky’s legal team saying that it was merely a prop while prosecutors have argued that it was real.

Rocky was first arrested in connection with the assault with a semiautomatic firearm allegations in April 2022. In a statement shared at the time, LAPD reps said that the incident in question had occurred in November 2021, initially as “an argument between two acquaintances.” At the top of this year's proceedings, Rocky turned down a would-be plea deal.

Also at the top of the trial, Tacopina characterized Relli’s allegations against his client as “nothing more than a money grab.” Later, when on the stand, Relli accused Rocky of brandishing a gun and threatening to kill him during the 2021 incident.

Rihanna, Rocky’s partner, showed up to support him in court in January. Later, amid closing arguments, she also brought her and Rocky’s two children, RZA and Riot.

Next for Rocky is the 2025 edition of the Met Gala, which this year counts him among its co-chairs. A new album, tentatively titled Don't Be Dumb, is also believed to still be on the horizon.
