Playboi Carti Says He 'Went Tom Cruise' for "FOMDJ" Truck Stunt: 'Dis Sh*t Real'

We need Tom Cruise in a Carti video immediately.

March 26, 2025

Playboi Carti is in a decidedly generous mood this week, having already expanded his 30-song MUSIC experience with four additional tracks. Tuesday’s surprise act of generosity, which will likely push the long-awaited album over the finish line to secure a second week atop the Billboard 200, was coupled with the release of the official video—actually, “official visualizer”—for deluxe edition closer “FOMDJ.”

In the video visualizer for the track, which should sound familiar to fans due to its prior tease at last year’s ComplexCon, Carti, fittingly, is seen standing atop a moving vehicle. As evidenced by a photo later shared to Instagram through Carti’s Opium Finsta, I wasn’t the only one who immediately shouted “Tom Cruise!” when watching the video.

“I WENT [TOM CRUISE],” Carti captioned the photo, as seen below. “NO EDIT DIS SHIT REAL MOVIN CAR ALL DAT YAAAAA.”

Although tagged in the Opium IG update, Cruise, who will next be seen in another surefire example of cinematic bliss with this May’s Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning, had not publicly addressed the comparison as of this writing. Hopefully, the four-time Oscar nominee is at least tapped in for the ever-expanding MUSIC experience alongside the rest of the world.

At the moment, the album, Carti’s relentlessly teased follow-up to 2020’s Whole Lotta Red, is indeed the No. 1 album in the country. The current Billboard 200 chart sees MUSIC in the top spot ahead of other recent No. 1 hitters including Lady Gaga’s MAYHEM, Kendrick Lamar’s GNX, and Tate McRae’s So Close to What.

Soon, MUSIC will hit the road, as Carti is set to join The Weeknd for a stadium run starting in May.
