Young Thug Officially Announces New 'UY Scuti' Album: 'It's Time'
Thug is back.
As has become increasingly clear in recent days, Young Thug is indeed set to launch a new album soon. A full-fledged confirmation arrived on Wednesday, with Thug directing fans to a designated site for the imminent UY Scuti, which takes its name from the supergiant star located roughly 9,500 lightyears from our planet.
Several physical options for the new album are now available, including single vinyl and CD, as well as merch bundles.
Below, get a closer look at the official cover art for the new album, Thug’s first since Business Is Business in 2023, and an alternate cover. Among the bundle options is the aptly named WHAT WOULD BRIAN DO boxed set, a nod to preeminent attorney Brian Steel, who represented Thug in his lengthy Georgia case.
In March, Thug kicked the fan hype into overdrive with his display of an “UY Scuti”-emblazoned jersey while sitting courtside at a Heat game with Mariah the Scientist. This month, that hype continued when a mid-Coachella billboard was spotted reading, “Universe has been too quiet, until now. UY Scuti.”
The UY Scuti announcement is particularly well-timed, as this month also marks the 10th anniversary of Thug’s long-revered Barter 6 tape.
Thus far, Thug’s 2025 has boasted a pair of guest appearances, with “Dum, Dumb, and Dumber” off Lil Baby’s WHAM album and “We Need All Da Vibes” off Playboi Carti’s MUSIC. In June, Thug will perform as part of Lyrical Lemonade’s Summer Smash festival, joining fellow headliners Future, Don Toliver, and Yeat. By then, it seems safe to say Thug will be fresh off the release of a new album.
