Freddie Gibbs Appears to Diss Currensy On 'Alfredo 2': 'Don’t Start Me, N***a'
The perceived shade comes seven years after the pair's joint album, 'Fetti,' caused a rift between them.
Freddie Gibbs appears to have dissed former collaborator Currensy on Alfredo 2, his new joint album with The Alchemist.
On the track "Gas Station Sushi," around the 2:35 mark, Gibbs raps: "Could’ve ran that Fetti by myself, bitch, I’m the best with AI, yeah/Bitch, keep it G, we like on part three, n***a, uh/Go start a Chevy up, don’t start me, n***a."
While Gibbs doesn’t mention Currensy by name, the reference to "Fetti" makes it seem like he’s referring to their joint project, Fetti, that dropped in 2018.
Listen to "Gas Station Sushi" below:
In 2023, Gibbs upset fans everywhere when he revealed that they wouldn’t be dropping a follow-up to their critically-acclaimed project because Currensy didn’t promote the first one that much. Gibbs responded to fans on X, telling them that Fetti 2 wouldn’t come out because Currensy’s new project (at the time) saw him "fucking with all of [Freddie’s] enemies."
Gibbs added that fans "wasn’t going to get that shit regardless," before he switched gears and hopped on what appeared to be his Instagram burner page to explain the real reason.
"N***a shitted on our first project," he wrote. "Didn’t shoot one video or do one show. I ain’t get mad, I just subtracted him from the equation and me and Al made another classic [and] went to the Grammys. End of story."
Currensy isn’t the only rapper to draw Gibbs' ire on Alfredo 2. On the song "Empanadas," he seemingly reflects on his alleged 2021 fight with Jim Jones in Miami, as well as scuffling with alleged associates of Benny The Butcher’s in Buffalo back in 2022.
"Smacked him in Miami, his boys jumped me, he played it safe," Gibbs seemingly raps about Jones.
"Bitches in Buffalo get the same thing, they was throwin' plates," he continues, this time about Benny. "Limped away on his good foot, but he ain't bust a grape/ These n***as fake/ Sealed documents, still poppin' it/ Fuck the certified crack babies, come get your mama hit/ Shit ain't sellin', they gotta resort to drama shit."
On "Lavish Habits," Gibbs throws shots at Gunna, Diddy, the City Girls, and Akademiks. "I'm still gonna squeeze Akademiks titties, that fat bastard," raps Gibbs. "Gunna dissed me and took a plea, he a rat bastard/ Show up at your funeral, big Fendi bitch, ten Blickies /Pee on city girls like P. Diddy, bith, get with me."
