Watch The Weeknd Gatecrash New York Graduation With Surprise Performance
The singer performed "Blinding Lights" and "I Can't Feel My Face" for graduates with Jimmy Fallon in tow.
The Weeknd has given graduates at a New York university a day they won't be forgetting in a hurry — all thanks to a surprise performance with help from Jimmy Fallon.
On Thursday (May 15), the singer stopped by The Tonight Show to promote his new movie, Hurry Up Tomorrow. As part of the visit, he and Fallon decided to sneak into Fordham University during graduation to deliver an impromptu concert.
Students were told their surprise for graduation was a DJ set from Fallon, who, after emerging from behind the decks, proceeded to joke with the graduating class that he had "never DJ'd before in my life," adding: "I'm sorry, I shouldn't admit that now."
After plugging his phone in and pushing play, the crowd got excited as the instrumental for The Weeknd's "Blinding Lights" began to blare out the speakers. It was then that the big reveal was made, and The Weeknd walked through the doors to perform his record-breaking hit.
He and Fallon bounced off each other as they performed the track together, while also including Fordham University's beloved mascot, Ramsey, who danced alongside the special guests.
After the song was up, the pair asked if the graduates wanted one more song. After a rapturous positive response, The Weeknd and Fallon performed "I Can't Feel My Face."
Meanwhile, in a new episode of Complex’s GOAT Talk, The Weeknd and his Hurry Up Tomorrow co-star Jenna Ortega broke down all things GOATed.
Around the seven-minute mark in the video below, the singer pulled out a question card which asked the duo to name their G.O.A.T. Weeknd album.
While Ortega named Dawn FM as hers, putting it down to the "different sound," The Weeknd said his favorite is My Dear Melancholy.
"I said what I had to say. There was no fillers and I did it really quick," he said of the album. "It was very cathartic and in a flow state, and I just put it out. I don't know, I was never able to really do that again."
