Haliey Welch on Her Future Post-’Hawk Tuah’: ‘We’re Trying to Step Away From It’
With new opportunities on the horizon, Welch tells Complex's West Wilson that she wants to move past her NSFW nickname.
Haliey Welch wants to move past her ‘Hawk Tuah’ nickname.
The 22-year-old personality went on a fishing date with Complex’s West Wilson for his new series West Date Ever. The two met up for a boat ride in her hometown of Nashville, Tennessee, and discussed how she wants to leave her infamous moniker behind.
As you might recall, Welch became an overnight sensation when she ran into creators Tim & Dee TV on a fateful night out in Nashville. The duo asked her about a move that would make a man go crazy in bed to which she responded, “Oh, you gotta give him that hawk tuah and spit on that thang.”
With her newfound fame and a wave of opportunities knocking on her door, Welch says she’s intentionally trying to move past her NSFW nickname that put her on the map.
“We’re trying to step away from it,” Welch says at the 1:57 mark in the video above, adding that she wants to be known as Haliey and “not Mrs. Hawk.”
“We’re steering towards podcasts and stuff like that, and a reality TV show. We’re talking about it,” she said in her beloved signature twang.
Last month, TMZ was the first to report that Welch had been receiving offers from Hollywood showrunners and producers to develop a reality show around her life.
While there were plenty of fishes in the lake for Haliey and West to pick from, Haliey still seems to have her sights set on her mystery lover whom she nicknames “Pookie.” While she is still reluctant to give more background on the guy, Welch admitted that she’s not entirely sure if he’s her boyfriend or if it’s just a situationship.
“Well, I don’t know. It’s confusing,” she tells Wilson. “We’ll get it figured out one day.
