Kim Kardashian Announces She’s ‘Finally’ Graduated Law Program After 6 Years
The SKIMS founder celebrated the milestone with an intimate ceremony surrounded by family and friends.
Congratulations are in order for Kim Kardashian.
On May 21, the 44-year-old announced she has graduated from her law program after years of intense legal training.
"I finally graduated law school after six years!!!" she wrote on her Instagram Story.
To celebrate, Kardashian hosted a small commencement ceremony surrounded by loved ones including her children Saint, 9, Chicago, 7, and Psalm West, 6. Her sisters Khloé Kardashian and Kourtney Kardashian and longtime friend and legal activist Van Jones were also in attendance.
“All of you guys have been on this journey with me,” Kim Kardashian said in a speech seen on Khloé Kardashian's Instagram Story. “It did start with Van and I. Well, it started with the Twitter video that I saw that popped up.”
Kim Kardashian also explained she was left “dumbfounded” by the state of the legal system, which piqued her interest in criminal justice reform and led her to begin a legal apprenticeship with a San Francisco law firm in 2018.
From there, Kardashian took the “baby bar” exam three times before finally passing it in 2021 and most recently sat for the Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam in March, a major step in becoming a licensed lawyer.
Kardashian's legal mentor Jessica Jackson, who also spoke at her graduation, highlighted the dedication it took to get this far by revealing Kardashian studied “18 hours a week, 48 weeks a year for six straight years.”
“That's time she carved out raising four children, running businesses, filming television shows, and showing up in courtrooms to advocate for others,” Jackson said, per NBC News.
While speaking at the intimate commencement, an emotional Jones noted that Kardashian took on her studies during a time "when it wasn't trendy, when it wasn't cool."
Kardashian shared a photo on her Instagram Story of her late father Robert Kardashian, the famed lawyer best known for representing O.J. Simpson for his 1995 murder trial.
However, Kim Kardashian's journey isn’t over just yet. She still needs to pass the California Bar Exam, which is held every February and July, to become a fully licensed attorney.
