Fitness Influencer Liver King Arrested Over Alleged 'Terroristic' Threats to Joe Rogan
The influencer, born Brian Johnson, was taken into custody in Austin, Texas after posting a series of concerning videos to Instagram.
Brian Johnson, the social media fitness influencer known as “Liver King,” was arrested after allegedly making "terroristic" threats against Joe Rogan.
The 47-year-old was arrested on Tuesday (June 24) in Austin, Texas—where Rogan lives—after detectives were alerted around 9:30 a.m. that Johnson had reportedly made threatening posts on his Instagram account to his 2.9 million followers.
“Detectives reviewed the posts and observed that Johnson was traveling to Austin while continuing to make threatening statements,” said a spokesperson for the Austin Police Department in a statement, per Variety. "Detectives contacted Mr. Rogan, who stated he had never had any interaction with Johnson and considered the posts to be threatening. Based on this information, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Johnson on a charge of Terroristic Threat."
Johnson was located by officers at the Four Seasons Hotel Austin around 5:59 p.m. and was “taken into custody without incident” before being transported to Travis County Jail and charged with a Class B misdemeanor.
“Joe Rogan, I’m calling you out, my name’s Liver King,” said Johnson in a video uploaded on Monday. “Man to man, I’m picking a fight with you. I have zero training in jiu-jitsu—you’re a black belt, you should dismantle me. But I’m picking a fight with you. Your rules … I’ll come to you, whenever you’re ready to go.”
“You never come across something like this, willing to die, hoping that you’ll choke me out, because that’s a dream come true," he added.
Another video uploaded to his account on Tuesday showed his wife, Bozena “Barbara” Johnson, walking into the hotel lobby before showing Johnson being led away in handcuffs.
Johnson is the subject of the Netflix documentary, Untold: The Liver King, which chronicles his rise to internet fame through raw meat consumption and an “ancestral lifestyle.” The documentary also explores the fallout from a steroid scandal.
