Jonathan Majors Opens Up About His Letter to Kevin Feige, Says He's Spoken With His Marvel Co-Stars
He said that he "really respects" the MCU boss and added that he changed his life by offering the Kang role.
Jonathan Majors has opened up the letter he wrote to Marvel boss Kevin Feige and revealed that he's spoken with a few of his former Marvel castmates.
In an interview with Complex News, Majors was asked what inspired him to reach out to MCU head Kevin Feige directly. "I really respect the man, what he's trying to do is extremely difficult," he replied. "He literally is the architect, you know? And he trusted me. He gave me a job, he changed my life. My letter to him, I won't go into the details, but it was just to let him know, like, 'I appreciate you. I know this is hard, and I'm here if you need me.' You know? But he's got a million things going on."
He was asked if he's heard back from Feige since sending that letter, and said that he hasn't. "But what are you gonna do?" he said. "That's all I needed. You know, I didn't... There are no question marks in the message. I wasn't asking him to do anything. I was just letting him know. 'Hey man, I understand.' I love Marvel, love love love love love Kang, in all... My variants? His variants? Yeah."
As for whether he's had an opportunity to speak with any of his former Marvel co-stars, Majors said he has but without naming any names. "The answer is yes," he said. "Directors, castmates, you know, definitely. I've got congratulations from a few of them, a couple days ago when the Magazine Dreams trailer came out. I had a really nice one from a really cool buddy. They've been around, in our quiet vestibules of communication where no one can be targeted or shamed for communication with me. And I respect that."
Earlier this month, Majors spoke with USA Today and indicated that he would gladly return to the MCU if asked. "Yeah, of course," he said. "Disney, Marvel Studios, I love them. Tom Hiddleston, loved working with that guy. Loved working with Paul Rudd. Loved working with Gugu Mbatha-Raw. I love the industry so much, and now I’m in the place where I can feel the love from them and actually express my love for them."
After he was convicted on two misdemeanor counts of reckless assault and harassment against his ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari, Marvel Studios dropped Majors from its upcoming projects. He portrayed Kang in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantimania and both seasons of Loki. He was scheduled to reprise the role, which would have made him the major antagonist of two Avengers movies. The projects have since been retooled to focus on Doctor Doom, who will be portrayed by Robert Downey Jr. in his return to the MCU.
In his interview with Complex News, Majors was asked about previously unheard audio in which he appeared to admit to having "aggressed" Jabbari following a fight in 2022. He said that he can't "speak to it," but said that he continues to "do my work." He was ordered by a judge to complete a 52-week domestic violence intervention program when he was found guilty.
