John Leguizamo Slams Dean Cain for ICE Career: 'What Kind of Loser Signs Up For That?'
'Your pronouns are has/been,' Leguizamo said.
John Leguizamo is taking aim at Dean Cain after the former Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman star revealed plans to become an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent.
In a video posted to Instagram on Friday, August 8, Leguizamo didn’t hold back. “What kind of loser volunteers to be an ICE officer?” he said. “What a moron. Dean Cain, your pronouns are has/been.”
Cain’s announcement comes as the Superman franchise experiences renewed attention following the July release of Warner Bros. and DC Studios’ latest reboot.
Cain, who played Clark Kent in the ’90s series, recently criticized the reboot’s director, James Gunn, for describing Superman as an “immigrant” and accused Hollywood of making the character “woke.”
During an appearance on Fox News on Wednesday, August 6, Cain said he plans to be “sworn in as an ICE agent, ASAP,” framing the decision as a patriotic duty. “The U.S. was built on patriots stepping up, whether it was popular or not,” he told the network, adding that joining ICE was “the right thing” to do.
Leguizamo, a longtime advocate for Latino representation in entertainment, has frequently spoken out on issues affecting the Latino community.
In a 2020 interview with People, he pointed out that Latinos make up nearly 20% of the U.S. population and 25% of the domestic box office, but account for less than 1% of stories told in Hollywood. “It’s such a damage to kids not to see themselves reflected back in positive ways,” he said at the time.
Cain’s comments arrive amid significant changes for ICE. In July, Congress approved a significant funding increase, boosting the agency’s annual budget from $8 billion to approximately $28 billion—making it the highest-funded law enforcement agency in the federal government.
Earlier this week, ICE also announced the removal of its age limit for new applicants, which had previously restricted entry to individuals between 21 and 40 years old.
