Theo Von Speaks Out Against U.S. Joining the Iran-Israel Conflict: 'What's the Win For Us?'
The comedian previously called Israel's attack on Gaza a "genocide."
Theo Von is sharing his perspective on the US potentially joining Israel’s war against Iran.
“[Israel is] trying to get us into a war with Iran,” the comedian said on the latest episode of his podcast, This Past Weekend w/ Theo Von at around the 18:30 minute mark.
“I don’t trust the Israel leader [Benjamin Netanyahu] at all. I don’t believe anything that guy says, and I don’t think that our soldiers should have to go and defend stuff that they start,” Von continued.
“It feels like they’re trying to push Trump to go do that. And it’s like, who makes that choice—does he make that choice?” he wondered. “What’s the win for us? We’re just involved in some other thing while we have suffering here at home.”
Von added, “[Netanyahu] really scares me. And I don’t know why we support [Israel]. I don’t understand that. I wish they would really give us a better explanation, especially after the massacres in Gaza.”
Von’s comments on Israel and Iran arrive amid Donald Trump’s wavering stance on joining the two countries’ conflict. On Wednesday, the president declined to say whether the US would join Israel in its offensive against Iran.
“I may do it. I may not do it. I mean, nobody knows what I’m going to do,” he told reporters, per Al Jazeera.
Last month, Von spoke out against the war in Palestine, calling it a “genocide” and saying that the US is “complicit.”
"It feels to me like it's a genocide that's happening while we're alive," he said on his podcast. "You see all these photos of people, just children, women, people, body parts just, people putting their kids back together. I just can't believe that we're watching that and that more isn't said about it.”
It’s worth noting that Von has close ties to the Trump family. He recently joined the president on his Middle East Tour, visiting Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates, and in May, Von was photographed having dinner with Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner. Von also attended Trump’s inauguration.
