Whoopi Goldberg Absent From ‘The View’ and Won’t Be Back for Weeks
The actress turned talk show personality will return in July.
Whoopi Goldberg is taking some time off from The View. The Sister Act star is currently in Italy and won't be returning to the daytime talk show until July.
"We are all jealous of Whoopi today because she's in Italy — I hope it's 100 degrees," Joy Behar said on the June 23 episode of The View. "She's in Italy accepting an award for her book Bits and Pieces, so she will be out this week."
Goldberg released her memoir in May 2024.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Goldberg, 69, will be off the program for about two weeks as The View takes a one-week hiatus in the summer that falls around the July 4 holiday. Goldberg is expected to return to the show on Monday, July 7.
Goldberg has been known to miss days on The View, either due to other work commitments or because she's under the weather. Back in May, for example, she was absent because she'd fallen ill.
“Whoopi’s got some kind of little bug,” Behar revealed on the May 14 episode (via TV Insider). "Not Covid, though, not Covid. She was wearing a mask yesterday. She wasn’t feeling well, but she’s coming back tomorrow — supposedly, if she feels better."
Goldberg also missed two days on the show in March.
“Whoopi is off today,. I’m sorry. She’ll be back Monday," Behar said at the time. Goldberg later shared that she was headed to Italy for the "Women in Food" event that honored women who work in various hospitality roles, such as chefs, food writers, managers, producers, and hotel directors, per TV Insider.
