'MasterChef' Alum Yanin Campos, 38, Dies After Car Accident in Mexico

The chef and social media personality died in Chihuahua, Mexico, at 38 years old.

MasterChef notable and social media cooking influencer Yanin Campos has died after a car accident in her native country.

According to reports, the chef was a victim in a car accident in Chihuahua, Mexico, where she struck a parked vehicle on Saturday (Aug. 2) around 6:30 a.m.

Campos was reportedly rushed to a local hospital where she passed away two days later. She was 38 years old.

Local police are now investigating whether the accident was caused by excessive speeding or distracted driving. Confirming the news of Campos' death on Facebook was her brother, Raúl.

"To family and friends. We inform you and mourn the passing of my sister Yanin Campos," the post read, translated from Spanish to English.

Campos was a contestant on season 4 of MasterChef: Mexico in 2018, placing sixth in the competition, while chef Ismael Zhu Li was the overall winner. The following year, Campos returned to compete on MasterChef México: La Revancha ("The Revenge"), where she was placed in challenges against chefs from the previous season.

Following the reality competition, Campos briefly hosted La Tertulia and occasionally teamed up with fellow chef Raúl Linares on baked goods.

On TikTok, Campos built a fan base of 99,600 followers, where she frequently posted lifestyle and travel content.
