Mo’Nique Wants Oprah Winfrey, Tyler Perry to ‘Take Accountablity’ for Messing With Her ‘Livelihood'
The actress-comedian says Tyler Perry and Oprah Winfrey "publicly shamed" her.
Mo'Nique has continued going after Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry after claiming that they blacklisted her in the late aughts.
The Academy Award winner was a guest on the Tuesday (August 19) episode of podcast Outlaws with TS Madison, during which she called out the media powerhouses. For years, Mo'Nique has accused Winfrey and Perry of blacklisting her for refusing to participate in the promotional tour of the 2009 drama Precious. Both Winfrey and Perry were co-producers of the film, along with Lee Daniels, who Mo'Nique has since reconciled with.
Around the 38-minute mark of the video below, Mo'Nique called Perry "one of the biggest entertainers in the world" and added that he told a "lie" about her.
"And that lie cost me 12 years of my career," she told Madison. And I know that you work for that man. But as I told you before, and I'm going to say it again, until he fixes it, I will not stop. Because that's how the monster is created. We're too afraid. We're too scared. We're too fearful that you going to take something from me."
Mo'Nique drew a comparison between Perry and convicted film producer Harvey Weinstein, accusing him of having a "God complex."
"Either you'll fix it in life or you'll be dealt with in death. It's totally up to you. But I'm not going nowhere, Oprah," she continued. "I'm not going anywhere until y'all take accountability and fix it. Y'all messed with my livelihood, which messes with my family. Never would I do that to anyone. So, until they fix it, I won't back down."
When asked about how the moguls can "fix" the situation, Mo'Nique name-dropped Daniels, who publicly apologized to her in 2022. "That man walked out on that stage publicly. See, you publicly shamed me. You publicly shamed me. So, now you have to publicly fix it," she said. "Tyler Perry, you cost my family millions and millions and millions of dollars."
The comedienne went on to allege that she's "not the only one" who's been disrespected by Perry and Winfrey, and addressed an alleged phone call where the Madea's Destination Wedding star shared his regrets for mistreating Mo'Nique.
Mo'Nique also accused Winfrey of perpetuating "inequality" in their feud and called out the betrayal of her estranged relatives once being guests on The Oprah Winfrey Show. Along with Mo'Nique's mother and father, the entertainer's brother, Gerald Imes, who molested her as a child, was on the talk show.
Elsewhere on the podcast, Mo'Nique also accused Winfrey of having a "God complex" and said that she wanted the "shackles off of her."
Among Mo'Nique's recent demands for an apology from Perry was in March, when she called for restitution from the filmmaker after his eulogy at Angie Stone's funeral service.
