Paranormal Investigator Unexpectedly Dies on ‘Annabelle’ Haunted Doll Tour
Paranormal investigator Dan Rivera has reportedly died during his statewide tour that spotlighted haunted doll Annabelle.
According to TMZ, Rivera was continuing his Devil's On the Run Tour in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, famously considered a site of paranormal activity because of the 1863 Battle of Gettysburg. The clash between Union and Confederate soldiers resulted in over 50,000 casualties and was a turning point of the Civil War, with the Union claiming victory.
Annabelle, which originated as a Raggedy Ann doll, has also been considered haunted since the 1970s and was cause for paranormal investigation by the late Ed and Lorraine Warren, who are portrayed in The Conjuring films.
On Sunday night (July 13), firefighters and paramedics rushed to the Gettysburg hotel room of a man Rivera's age, where there was CPR in progress. The 54-year-old, who was a lead investigator for the New England Society for Psychic Research, was later confirmed deceased by the organization, although the cause of his death is unclear.
In numerous TikTok videos, Rivera hosted sold-out Devil's On the Run tour dates, where he took variations of the Annabelle doll cross-country for public viewing, although he assured guests that they were "protected" from the doll. The Gettysburg event was held on Saturday (July 12) at the Soldiers Orphanage Homestead. After his time in the U.S. Army, Rivera developed a curiosity for the paranormal and became a mentee of Lorraine Warren in her latter years. He was also named lead investigator of the Warrens' NESPR in 2011.
In the TikTok above, Rivera recalled being “really good friends” with Warren and that she informed him of his “gift” shortly before her passing in 2019.
