Wendy Williams Breaks Silence, Gives Health Update After New Court Ruling
Wendy Williams shared her unhappiness about an extension of a guardianship that has been in place for years.
Wendy Williams has broken her silence with a surprising health update one week after a medical exam upheld her court-appointed guardianship.
Per Page Six, Williams was seen entering a New York restaurant when she was asked about her feelings regarding the ruling. Instead of directly answering the question, Williams discussed her attorney’s response.
“My attorneys are highly upset,” Williams declared. When asked if she had anything to say to her conservator, Williams added, “I want to say hi to my attorneys, Allan Diamond and Joe Tacopina,” Williams said, adding, “I will get out of guardianship.”
In 2022, a New York judge placed the radio legend under a guardianship after her Wells Fargo bank accounts were frozen. Page Six reports that the bank claimed there was improper activity connected to Williams’ account, and the freeze was to protect her.
Williams’ health has been under a microscope ever since departing her eponymous talk show in 2020 due to a diagnosis of Graves' disease and other health issues. In the 2024 Lifetime documentary Where Is Wendy Williams, further medical issues were exposed, including memory lapses, erratic behavior, and alleged alcohol misuse.
On August 12, PEOPLE reported that Williams' medical diagnosis had been completed. These include a “significant number of tests (both medical and neuropsychological) and scans (including brain imaging)” that had been done.
PEOPLE cited sources that a diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia (FTD) and aphasia was upheld from prior medical testing completed in 2023. Williams resided in an assisted living facility for two years, leaving in March.
A 2025 ID Channel documentary, Trapped: What is Happening to Wendy Williams, takes a deep dive into the former talk show host’s guardianship. “The documentary will delve into the #FreeWendy movement and the current push by Williams’ fans and loved ones to have her released from the guardianship she has been under since 2022,” says a quote from the network published by USA Today.
Trapped: What is Happening to Wendy Williams is available to stream on Max.
