Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick Feud? Their Costar May Have Just Added Fuel to the Fire

No names were dropped, but a sly on-air moment has fans reading between the lines.

Henry Golding may have reopened a Hollywood cold case.

The 38-year-old Crazy Rich Asians star appeared on the Thursday, June 26 episode of Watch What Happens Live and took part in a round of “1, 2, Agree or Disagree.” Charlize Theron was also a guest that night, but it was Golding’s response that caught attention.

Host Andy Cohen asked if there’s “usually at least a little bit of truth” behind rumors that costars clash on set. Both Golding and Theron, 49, held up green “agree” signs.

“Says one of the stars of A Simple Favor!” Cohen, 57, teased.

Playing it cool, Golding said, “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

That blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment was enough to reignite speculation that Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick didn’t exactly get along while filming either of the A Simple Favor movies. In the hit films, Lively plays the glamorous and secretive Emily, Kendrick stars as the buttoned-up single mom Stephanie, and Golding plays Emily’s husband, Sean.

For those who missed the drama the first time around, gossip about a rift between the two actresses started back in 2018 when A Simple Favor hit theaters. Fans pointed to a lack of social media interaction, stiff press appearances, and awkward body language as early red flags. The chatter picked up again during the sequel’s rollout this spring, especially after a few eyebrow-raising red carpet moments.

At the Another Simple Favor premiere in March, Kendrick, 39, gave a clipped “Oh, you know…” when Entertainment Tonight asked what it was like working with the 37-year-old Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants star again.

Variety followed up not long after with a broader question about “everything going on in the world,” and Kendrick didn’t miss a beat.

“Why, what happened?” she joked. “I did ayahuasca, and the last year of my life is just gone, but I’ve heard the movie is ah-mazing.”

Lively was asked the same by an ET reporter and was all smiles. “Oh, it’s the best!” she gushed. “I’m so happy to be here.”

Behind the scenes, director Paul Feig has swatted down the feud talk more than once. In January, he responded to a viral X thread claiming Amazon had shelved the film due to Lively’s legal battle and “growing tensions” with Kendrick.

“This is total BS. Sorry,” Feig, 62, wrote at the time. “The movie is finished and coming out soon. Don’t believe anything you read on social media these days.”

In March, the award-winning filmmaker shut down a second post suggesting Kendrick was “furious” and Lively was “terrified” to walk the red carpet. His response? “Um… you’re wrong.”
