Marlon Wayans recently opened up about a past cheating scandal that unfolded on a boat in St. Barts, an event he addressed in his 2021 stand-up comedy special You Know What It Is.

During his visit to Big Boy TV, Wayans shared his memories about the 2013 incident, in which paparazzi captured him kissing a young woman on a boat in St. Barts. The photos showed the two kissing and cuddling on the boat, which was a problem since Marlon was at the time still with then-girlfriend Angela Zackary.

According to Marlon, the whole thing went down because he reached out to Russell Simmons about vacationing in St. Barts and asked about the presence of paparazzi on the island. In Wayans' telling, Simmons assured the comic he had nothing to worry about. Marlon then traveled to the Caribbean island and purchased a boat to have himself a grand old time.

"I felt like Jay-Z. I was like, 'Yo, I'mma get a boat.' You know, but I forgot to take Beyoncé and Blue Ivy," said Marlon. "So I was on a boat with a young lady, and paparazzi caught me. They didn't get [just] one picture, man. They had a book."

Marlon added that he saw several Google Alerts about himself that eventually led to a phone call from Zackary, who confronted him over the pictures that had already circulated throughout the tabloids and the internet. He shared that his friend Steve tried to give him a ridiculous alibi, which included Marlon being saved by a mermaid and kissing her as a thank you. Despite all the shenanigans, Marlon said he came clean to Zackary and their kids.

Following the cheating incident, Marlon said he was "lonely and depressed," which led to a significant "shopping spree phase" where he amassed an extensive collection of clothes and sneakers. He later shed most of these possessions after his parents passed away, realizing "none of the stuff that I have acquired is important, and none of it I take with me."
