Reality Star Apologizes to Entire Cast in YouTube Video Amid Reunion Backlash
After drawing criticism from fans, 'RHOA' star Shamea Morton issued a public apology addressing her castmates
Real Housewives of Atlanta star Shamea Morton took to YouTube on Sunday, July 27, in an attempt to clear the air after a dramatic reunion.
Morton, 43, posted a video to her YouTube channel titled, "Dear Sweet 16...," a reference to the 16th season of RHOA. In the 41-minute-long video, Morton speaks candidly about her behavior throughout the past season of the reality show, including the fiery three-part reunion.
“If I ever offended you, if I’ve made you feel less than, inferior, insulted you, hurt you in any way — I’m sorry,” Morton said, after apologizing to each cast member. “I hope that we can start fresh, and I wish you nothing but the best. And that prayer, I hope it leaves this room and enters into your heart and into your household, and that’s a wrap on Season 16.”
Following the release of the video, fellow Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kandi Burruss had some advice for Morton.
"When you fall out on TV, they gonna make you keep bringing it back up. Everybody gets to have an opinion. It’s got to go viral. It’s about to be a mess," said Burruss on Amazon Live. She then continued, "Going into the next season, she just needs to address how she feels and be fully transparent," debunking rumors that Season 16 of RHOA would be Morton's first and last.
Over the course of the season, Morton found herself at odds with much of the cast. Tensions with fellow castmate Porsha Williams came to a head at the reunion, with Williams confronting Morton over past grievances. At the reunion, host Andy Cohen encouraged the actress to express her frustrations with her friends in a healthier way. Many fans speculate that the YouTube video is her way of taking his advice.
Despite ending the most recent RHOA season under scrutiny, Morton appears to be attempting to take accountability with her YouTube apology video. Season 17 of the hit show hasn't yet begun, but reality fans can watch Season 16 on Peacock.
