50 Cent has won a one billion dollar lawsuit brought forward by former drug kingpin Cory “Ghost” Holland Sr. who accused the rapper/co-creator of Power of stealing his life story and using it for the plot of the hit show. In true 50 Cent fashion, he joked about the matter on social media the first chance he could get.

50 loves to get his jokes in on Instagram, and yesterday (Aug. 3), he continued the trend by posting a screenshot of the story headline announcing that he won the suit, followed by a victory lap of a caption. “Fool thought he was Ghost 😆 da fvck wrong wit these 🥷’s man 🤨 LOL,” he wrote.

Judge Analisa Torres recently ruled in favor of 50 Cent, deciding that the show never directly references Holland.

Back in 2021, Holland filed the massive lawsuit in which he argued that 50, along with co-creator of the show Courtney Kemp, STARZ, and Lionsgate, were responsible for hijacking his story.

Holland claimed that he met Kemp’s father in the early 1990s so they could discuss the story of his life while he was attempting to leave the drug trade. Then in 2007, Holland says he sent a copy of a CD that featured an autobiographical song about being a drug lord that mirrors some of the plot points of Power.

At some point, Holland believes that 50 Cent received the CD and used the story to create Power. Holland claims that there are more than 200 scenes in the show that are based on his life.

“This is not one of those lawsuits from a deranged fan or somebody trying to capitalize off someone else’s success,” said Holland about the suit. “This is about the actual theft of my life, and the damages that it has done as well as the profits that the defendants have made from the stealing and telling of my life story without my consent.”

50 Cent’s lawyer, Joanna Hill, responded to the suit by saying that Holland “fails to state any claim upon which relief can be granted. More specifically, [Holland] fails to identify any defamatory statements made about him in connection with the fictional television series ‘Power.’”
