Kevin Durant Jokingly Calls Out Fellow Team USA Players About Height: ‘Those Guys Might Be Shorter Than What Their Numbers Say’
“I'm not lying about my height,” the 35-year-old insisted, but he's not so sure about his teammates.
Kevin Durant wants to clear the air about his height—and his teammates' height, while he's at it.
During an appearance on Thursday’s episode of the Up & Adams show with Kay Adams, the 35-year-old forward addressed discrepancies around the heights his fellow players on the USA Basketball Men’s National Team claim they are.
Adams opened up the interview by asking Durant what his height is.
“There's some huge controversy about you being a lot taller than 6’10 with this Team USA photo shoot that happened. Have you seen this?” asked Adams.
“Now, I don't know why that—I guess those guys might be shorter than what their numbers say. I'm 6’9 though. So it looks like Bam Adebayo is probably 6’8 instead of 6’10,” said Durant. “And [Anthony Davis] is probably 6’9. So they probably adding a little more in their height, while I'm keeping mines at the same, you know?”
“I'm not lying about my height,” he added before claiming that Joel Embiid, 30, is not seven feet tall.
As of publishing time, the USA Basketball website still has Adebayo listed as 6’9, Embiid at 7’0, Davis at 6’10, and Durant at 6’10.
Team USA defeated Canada 86-72 in their first exhibition game on Wednesday, per ESPN. They will face Australia in another exhibition game in Abu Dhabi on Monday.
