Seahawks Rookie Elijah Arroyo’s Interview Goes Viral for 1 Reason
One interview, one camera angle, and a flood of NSFW puns.
Elijah Arroyo didn’t just introduce himself to Seahawks fans this week — he made a rather sizable entrance.
After a training-camp interview clip hit timelines on Sunday, August 3, the rookie tight end recruited from Miami began trending for obvious reasons: a wardrobe angle that revealed more than intended.
The internet saw the tape, hit pause, and unleashed a flood of puns.
Reddit did what Reddit does. One fan joked the rookie “works his pants off,” while another said he was “airing out that big dawg.” Someone else noted he “balls out every game." The scouting report got cheeky fast: “Now we know what JS calls ‘immeasurables.'" Cue the rebuttal: “Idk looks pretty measurable,” followed by, “You would bust out the yard stick,” and the classic, “We need a banana, for scale.”
Jokes aside, Arroyo still has a job to win.
According to Sports Illustrated, Seattle opens the preseason against the Raiders later this week, marking a homecoming for new Las Vegas head coach Pete Carroll and former Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith.
Carroll and Smith won’t be suiting up for Seattle, but Arroyo will be trying to turn viral momentum into depth-chart equity. The rookie is expected to compete for reps as a middle-of-the-field safety valve for Sam Darnold, with fellow rookie Nick Emmanwori also in the spotlight.
And about the smack-talk: Emmanwori playfully labeled Arroyo a “medium cover,” which the tight end took in stride before firing back that Emmanwori can’t guard him.
If Arroyo’s practice chemistry shows up under the lights, the conversation can finally shift from inseams to seams — the kind he splits in zone coverage. Until then, the internet has its yardsticks ready.
