LeBron James Claims He Really Drives a Kia in New Commercial, Tells Twitter User He Owes Him $10 Million
When LeBron Jamessigned on with Kia last year to be the ambassador of the company's K900 luxury sedan, plenty of people were wondering whether or not the best player in the NBA would truly be cool with riding around in one of these vehicles.
The folks at KIA decided to embrace the skepticism in their latest spot, by showing James playfully accepting a $10 million bet that someone posted to Twitter, and then proving that he does in fact drive his KIA by (presumably) heading over to this poor person's house.
Michael Sprague, chief operating officer at Kia Motors America, told The Wall Street Journal: "LeBron is all about being authentic. We are confident we can take the playful approach and prove this is an authentic partnership."
ESPN reported at the time it was signed that the deal didn't require James to drive the vehicle exclusively.
Because of that part specifically, it's perfectly reasonable to think that James drives the car to the arena as required, even though some fans may continue to choose to believe that the partnership is just a charade.
