By now, just about every WNBA fan, and even some who might not follow women’s basketball very closely, have likely seen the recent controversial clip of Los Angeles Sparks guard Kelsey Plum seemingly throwing a diss toward Fever star Caitlin Clark.

The clip was taken during an interview following the WNBA All-Star Game in Indianapolis on July 19. During the interview, Plum was commenting on the players’ decision to show a unified front ahead of the game by all coming out onto the court wearing the same black shirts with the message, “Pay Us What You Owe Us.” The shirts were meant to send a powerful message that comes as WNBA players continue to work towards getting higher pay.

"As players, we didn't know that was going to happen. So, I think it was kind of a genuine surprise. The T-shirt, just a united front, was determined this morning that we had a meeting for,” Plum began.

But it was the comment she made next that sent social media ablaze and has led to much controversy.

"Not to tattletale, but zero members of Team Clark were very present for that," she said, prompting an eye roll from New York Liberty’s Sabrina Ionescu, who was seated next to her.

"That really needed to be mentioned,” Ionescu clapped back sarcastically.

The clip has since gone viral on social media, and many people are not holding back their criticism of Plum. Some fans noted that the comment about Clark was unnecessary and only leads to further division instead of bringing the league together.

Some WNBA fans have even turned to Plum’s social media posts to express their disapproval.

“Being a grown-up tattletale is crazy,” jabbed one commenter, referring to Plum’s recent comments.

“Bad look Kelsey, very junior highish,” wrote another person.

Others took the opportunity to stand up for Clark in the midst of the controversy.

“You all owe CC a lot of gratitude,” commented one fan.
