Alexis Ohanian Criticizes Jason Whitlock Over Remarks on Serena Williams' Super Bowl Cameo
Serena appeared for only a few seconds and the moment has everyone talking.
Meet Jason Whitlock. He’s the latest example of "fuck around and find out."
Alexis Ohanian was defending his wife Serena Williams’ brief appearance during Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl LIX halftime show when Whitlock decided to chime in. The Reddit co-founder absolutely destroyed Whitlock with bars on top of bars.
"I get it—you’re 57, and life didn’t turn out the way you imagined," Ohanian wrote. "That kind of disappointment must be exhausting. You’re the embodiment of peaked in high school, spending decades chasing validation from strangers through Likes and Digital Hugs, only to find that no amount of external approval fills the void. I wouldn’t wish that on anyone."
Ohanian was nice enough to conclude his read with some words of advice on how the 57-year-old Whitlock can improve as a person.
"This is a lonely road. There’s still time to rewrite the ending — start by working on yourself first," he wrote. "You'll find that if you wake up every morning trying to be a little better, a little more curious, you won't have time for irrational hating — you'll be too busy winning."
Stephen A. Smith also chose to provide his two cents on Serena’s cameo on ESPN’s First Take earlier this week. "If I'm married and my wife is going to join trolling her ex, go back to his ass," Smith said. "'Cause clearly you don't belong with me. What you worried about him for and you're with me? Bye. Bye."
Ohanian used X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, to deliver a blanket statement to anyone criticizing his wife, explaining that Williams was criticized 13 years ago for doing that same dance at Wimbledon.
It’s unclear if Stephen A. is aware of Drake’s petty behavior leading up to that Super Bowl moment. After being called a “groupie” on the Her Loss song “Middle of the Ocean,” Ohanian made light of the remark. “The reason I stay winning is because I'm relentless about being the absolute best at whatever I do — including being the best groupie for my wife & daughter,” he wrote.
Even though he took the high road, Ohanian could also wonder why Drake, who reportedly dated Serena around 2011 to 2015, is still worried about a man who has been married to Serena for five years at the time.
