Shannon Sharpe raised eyebrows this week when he seemingly snapped during his podcast.

The incident went down during the April 30 episode of Nightcap with co-host Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson and special guest Joe Johnson. While discussing the 2025 NFL Draft abruptly looked off camera and shouted, “Shut the f*ck up!” The moment quickly began circulating on the internet, fueling more discussions about Sharpe’s emotional state as he faces a sexual assault lawsuit.

Sharpe initially suggested he was shouting at someone “next door” but didn’t provide any further details — that is, until the end of the podcast.

One viewer asked the Pro Football Hall of Famer who he was addressing in the now-viral moment. Sharpe told viewers he was responding to his “neighbor” who allegedly shouted, “Be quiet over there!”

“But I was joking — my next door neighbor,” he said. “But I’m surprised because normally I don’t have anybody next me.”

Ochocino told Sharpe to knock on the wall and invite his neighbor to come on camera. Sharpe immediately shot down the suggestion,

“No,” he told his co-host. “He’s asleep now… He don’t leave over there.”

Ochocinco wouldn’t give up. He told Sharpe not to let his neighbor “punk” him, and questioned why Sharpe went from “screaming” to “whispering.” Sharpe confessed he couldn’t be mad at the neighbor because he reacts the same way when others next door start getting loud.

“That’s exactly what I do,” he said. “When people be laughing and joking, I go knock right on the door. Boom, boom, boom.”

The incident went down about a week after Sharpe announced he was temporarily stepping down from his ESPN duties with plans to resume his First Take hosting gig later this summer. Sharpe said he was using his extra time to focus on his family and deal with the $50 million civil suit. The plaintiff, identified as Jane Doe, accused Sharpe of raping her twice in Las Vegas, once in October 2024 and another time in January 2025.

Sharpe has vehemently denied the allegations and referred to the lawsuit as a “shakedown.”

“This is all being orchestrated by Tony Buzbee, who has targeted Jay Z,” he said, referring to Jane Doe’s attorney. “Tony Buzbee targets Black men and I believe he is going to release a 30-second clip of a sex tape to try to make me look guilty and play into every stereotype you can possible imagine.”
