Angel Reese Hopes to Be Teammates With Caitlin Clark in the Future
The two WNBA players have been rivals since they were kids.
Angel Reese hopes one day she can be teammates with Caitlin Clark in the WNBA.
In her conversation with the Wall Street Journal, Reese reflected on her rivalry with Clark and explained that the competition between them has been ongoing since they were kids. According to Reese, trash talk is essential and should be normalized in women's athletics. She also hoped they could be teammates one day.
"Me and Caitlin have been playing against each other since we were kids," said Reese. "It's just a full circle moment of how women are viewed when it comes to trash-talking, and it's okay in men's sports. So we're gonna normalize that in women's sports as well, so it's just super competitive. I think we're two great competitors. We brought a lot of fans to this league, and I thought we're gonna continue to do that, and one day, hopefully, we can be teammates."
Reese and Clark's rivalry reached a fever pitch when both athletes faced off in the 2023 NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament championship final. During the game, Reese taunted Clark by waving her hand in front of her face, John Cena-style, while pointing to her ring finger. The moment captivated viewers and went viral, pushing both Reese and Clark into the spotlight.
Reese faced criticism for her actions, but Clark took no offense to it during interviews with reporters. Notably, both Reese and Clark played on the same team during the WNBA All-Star game this year.
