The Sacramento Kings will hopefully be instituting a raise for whoever’s currently running their socials after the team capitalized on widely shared footage of Drake spiking a DeMar DeRozan jersey at a recent show.

As you’ve no doubt seen by now, the footage in question stems from Drake’s Anita Max Win Tour. In it, Drake is briefly seen with a DeRozan jersey while performing his and 21 Savage’s “Rich Flex.” Once he unfurled the jersey and noticed the name, Drake gave it a dismissive throw.

DeRozan, of course, began his professional career in Drake’s hometown of Toronto, ultimately playing with the Raptors from 2009 through 2018. These days, the USC Trojans alum is playing with the Sacramento Kings. The team was quick to acknowledge Drake’s gesture, sharing an edit of the jersey toss footage (credited to @thejchan16) and captioning it, simply, “The 916 loves Deebo.”

Last year, DeRozan showed up for Kendrick Lamar’s The Pop Out event in Inglewood, followed by a cameo in the official video for the Grammy-sweeping Drake diss “Not Like Us.” By November, the two had traded words after Drake said that a hypothetical DeRozan jersey retirement would be met with him climbing into the rafters and pulling it down.

As of last July, however, DeRozan was insisting that all remained well between himself and Drake, despite matters of Kendrick suggesting otherwise. The apparent DeMar issues don’t stand alone in terms of Drake’s current NBA woes. He’s also seemingly at odds with LeBron James, another noteworthy guest at Kendrick’s Pop Out.

Just this month, tour footage showed Drake changing a lyric from his Scorpion track “Nonstop” to reflect his current feelings about the Lakers legend. And on the topic of beef, more generally, Drake briefly addressed exactly that on his joint album with PARTYNEXTDOOR, $ome $exy $ongs 4 U.
