Dwyane Wade Says ‘No One Was Supposed to Have Seen’ Him, LeBron, and Chris Paul on Banana Boat
The Banana Boat photo was taken when the NBA Hall of Famers were on vacation.
Dwyane Wade says that no one was supposed to have seen him, Chris Paul, and LebRon James riding a Banana Boat during their 2015 vacation.
While a guest on Pardon My Take recently, Wade recalled how the now iconic photo came to be.
“My wife wanted to go on a banana boat,” explained Wade. “So Chris Paul, Bron, and I all got on a banana boat. Now we're in the middle of nowhere, no one was supposed to know this but us.”
Wade then revealed that a stranger saw them and snapped the picture without them realizing it. “Someone took a photo from God knows where,” said Wade. “No one was supposed to have seen us on a banana boat.”
Interestingly enough, Wade revealed that Carmelo Anthony, who didn’t appear in the legendary photo, was supposed to be a member of the “Banana Boat team,” but he joined the NBA legends shortly after the photo was taken. Had he joined them earlier, he would have been included in the unforgettable picture.
Elsewhere in the episode, Wade opined about Michael Jordan’s aura when he arrived at the NBA’s Top 75 event. “Jordan wasn’t in that room. Actually Jordan flew in,” Wade began. “We didn't know MJ was coming. We didn’t know who was going to be there when we took that photo in that room.”
“And that’s when MJ walked in,” Wade continued. “You’ve heard multiple stories about MJ coming in and like how he snuck in like the ‘Black Cat’ and just kind of snuck up on everybody and started talking shit immediately. Right away. Right at Magic. And once again, you can go back and look at the clip, you can see my face — I was like, ‘Oh, this is happening.’”
