Diddy’s Lawyer Marc Agnifilo: ‘I Believed in My Heart That He Was Innocent'
The Bad Boy Entertainment founder also addressed the rumors about his client obtaining a pardon from President Trump.
Diddy’s attorney Marc Agnifilo says he still believes his client was “innocent.”
Agnifilo recently sat down with CBS Mornings for his first network interview since the 55-year-old Bad Boy Entertainment founder was convicted of prostitution-related charges last month.
"I've been blessed to have a lot of cases that people care about, but nothing, nothing close to this," said Agnifilo, whose clients include NXIVM founder Keith Raniere and “Pharma Bro” Martin Shkreli.
The former prosecutor turned criminal defense attorney added that Diddy’s case put a lot of pressure on him and his team.
"A lot of pressure because, you know, Sean Combs—I mean, I believed in my heart that he was innocent," he said.
Agnifilo also addressed the speculation about a possible pardon from President Donald Trump after another attorney for Diddy, Nicole Westmoreland, told CNN that she believed his defense team “had conversations in reference to a pardon” with the Trump administration.
"I have nothing to do with a possible pardon,” Agnifilo clarified. “I have had conversations with nobody. I have not spoken to the president. I have not spoken to anybody who speaks to the president about Sean Combs. I have not."
However, Diddy, who is currently behind bars at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center, is supposedly in favor of having President Trump step in for help.
"He says, 'Go tell him [Mr. Trump] that I need a pardon,'" said Agnofilo. "'Go tell him I deserve a pardon.' That's what he said."
Diddy also supposedly told Agnifilo that he wants to plan a comeback performance at Madison Square Garden once he’s released from jail.
In the meantime, Agnifilo says he’s currently focused on getting Diddy “a good sentence.”
Last month, Diddy was convicted of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. Each count carries a maximum possible sentence of 10 years in prison. He was found not guilty of racketeering and sex trafficking.
